We live in a microwave world society. Everyone wants what they want NOW! We find ourselves living during a time when practically everything is watered down for the masses.
Sadly this is also true for many in the self defense world. Many instructors around the world would lead you to believe that taking a weekend seminar is all you need to handle yourself in a violent situation.
We believe the phrase “Self Defense” is even a bad way to look at what you are doing. Mentally what a person has to do is not assume a passive defensive posture. The very nature of this means you are waiting for a predator to attack you.
Rather we focus on developing counter offensive techniques.
A few other things to mention is you need to practice against resisting opponents. In real life people won’t wait for you to apply a technique on them.
Your instructor should also understand how to deal with a persons energy. If the technique you are using can’t work without you using lots of force, then the technique itself is a bad technique for self defense.
Have you taken any self defense courses? We would love to know what classes you have taken.
