Wearing Your Emotional Intention On Your Sleeve
It’s been a while since I wrote in this blog. I think much of it has to do with being a practical martial artist. What I mean by this is, I am not to big into show boating or bragging. So I am often unsure what to actually blog about.
…I will however from time to time share some of my views with you
Ironically it was my father who first introduced me to martial arts when I was 5 yrs old. I come from a long line of martial artist in my family. That however is for another story on perhaps another day. Today I want to talk about emotional intention.
I didn’t get involved with martial arts with the idea that I would have a pissing contest with other guys. People and their ego’s can really be annoying. I suppose I should have thought about that before getting involved with teaching people martial arts.
Today I was just thinking about something my dad said to me when I was a boy but never understood until later in life.
” Boy… He still calls me boy I am 37! Anyhow, he said, boy as long as you are in the right you will never loose a fight.”
I was like what are you talking about old man!
As my chi developed over the years and my pursuit of martial art’s perfection continued I began to realize what he actually meant.
I Started Feeling Peoples Intention
If you don’t fully grasp the idea of Chi you probably don’t understand what I am talking about. The best way I can explain it is like this. If a person is angry and you are peaceful you will easily see the angry person coming at you.
…The Secret!
Therefor is to have a mindset of non aggression. It’s simply amazing how powerful our minds are. When we are at peace and our spirit is calm we can clearly see hidden dangers that would otherwise be masked by our own egos.
Think about…
I write some more when the spirit moves me…

That is some very wise advice from your father. Some learn it the hard way.

Indeed very wise advice. Sometimes it really does feel as if fellow martial artists make practicing feel like a contest. Thank you for sharing this. I shared it with my fellow classmates.

I have watched all your videos. I am a lover of Wing Chun and I am interested in knowing who you are and if it’s possible to come where you are and study with you.
