I think by now most people have seen the “fight of the century”. This fight was a classic the young vs the old. To be honest there where a few things going against McGregor from the very beginning.
-
- He was overconfident. If you watch everything leading up to the fight you will notice that McGregor thought he was going to walk over Mayweather. So going into the fight he dismissed Mayweather Jr as real threat.
- He didn’t truly understand the game of boxing. In MMA the game is totally different.
- He played right into Mayweather’s strategy from the very beginning. Another words the fight started months before they actually stepped into the ring. Looking back on all the events that took place, you can see Mayweather giving the impression that McGregor is going to railroad him.
- He Played right into Mayweather’s plan from the very first round. This has everything to do with experience.
I heard some people say that McGregor, kept trying to take him down and hitting behind the head. He did deliver blows behind the neck but you can see that he was pulling those punches I really believe that he was throwing those by accident out of habit from his MMA habit.
I also noticed that Mayweather did a great job of using the rules to tire out McGregor.
The Floyd Mayweather Vs Conor McGregor Fight Was Fake
On the other hand, the ref did call that fight a few minutes too early. Also you can see that it looked like McGregor was pulling some punches. This led some people to say that thought the fight was fixed. And indeed if you watch the fight a few times in a row it does look like maybe this fight could have been fixed.
Here’s what I think
My final thought on this fight is the fight was not fixed. I never liked Mayweather, I feel he spent his whole career playing it safe. With that said, after watching this fight I gained a new respect for Mayweather, not for his boxing skill rather because he used his brain to outsmart McGregor. You can literally see McGregor playing right into his hands.
Not to take away from McGregor, in all fairness Boxing isn’t his sport. If Mayweather stepped into octagon with McGregor, Conor would most likely beat him in the first round.
But in the world of boxing where you can’t ground and pound or submit your opponent you have to really know how to play the game.
There is an old saying that goes:
Never box a boxer…
That statement was proven true in the epic fight between two masters of their craft. The big news is Mayweather is 50-0. I don’t think this fight should have counted to that record because McGregor was by no means a professional boxer.
Let’s Talk About The PPV Cost Of This Fight Of Fights
It wasn’t worth $99 to watch. I was fortunate to watch the fight with my friends, I wouldn’t of watched the fight if I had to shell out $99 of my hard earned money.
There is one thing I am absolutely sure of.. Both of the fighters made some major bank! While I don’t think the fight was fixed, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.
