The Biggest Hazard To Your Wing Chun Training
While pride and ego can be a good thing, more times than not it’s actually a very bad thing to carry around in your Wing Chun training.
In the Wing Chun community there are ten’s of thousands of people from all over the world who train in Wing Chun.
In today’s martial art climate you would think that would be unity among all the different Wing Chun families.
Unfortunately this simply isn’t true. On any given day you can go to a Wing Chun forum and see the constant debating and pickering about who’s Wing Chun is authentic. Who trains realistically? Why don’t you see Wing Chun Students competing in MMA competitions?
I’ve heard arguments that Wing Chun guys don’t know how to fight and the list goes on and on. My teacher is better than your teacher. Our Wing Chun is the real wing chun. Honestly, it’s nauseating to see how petty and ego driven the Wing Chun community is.
Don’t get me wrong, there are shinning examples of people within the Wing Chun community who are doing good works in society.
They are teaching with the only intention to share their knowledge.
Wing Chun Is A Martial Art System Of Principles
Some of the guiding principles of Wing Chun is simply to simplify. The quickest way between 2 points is a straight line.
It’s kind of hard to mess up the system when you are letting the principles guide you. I like to believe that everyone’s Wing Chun is just a little different from everyone else’s. After all we are all unique individuals.
People should be rewarded for keeping the spirit of Wing Chun alive.
So what about you. Do you train in Wing Chun? Have you noticed that there is a lot of internal pickering going on around the world?
If you believe that there is only one true Wing Chun system that works why do you believe that? I’d love to hear your view point.
