As an avid practitioner or JKD, I agree that breathing is the solid foundation that you need to have good balance – on the mat and in life. The most basic part of being alive is usually forgotten in today’s busy modern world.

Spot on! I was completely out of shape, beer belly weighing me down and not physical condition at all. ( Kung Fu panda lol) I signed up for a few Kung fu toronto lessons thinking I could maybe lose some weight and learn something new and interesting at the same time, but nope, my breathing got in the way.
I noticed I didn’t exhale when trying moves, and that’s not the way to do it. No idea what I was thinking lol.
Anyways, 3 months of kung fu and still going. beer belly’s gone down considerably 😀
