MMA is Slaughtering The Kung Fu Guy On TV

May 31, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

This particular video is a little old but it had me thinking about the martial arts, television and greed. It’s clear to me that Joe Rogan never actually went toe to toe with a real kung fu martial artist.

He talks a lot of smack, but at the end of the day he is just a loud mouth promoter trying to make a buck. I am not sure what happened in the 90’s that caused so much mis information in the martial arts community. [Read more…]

Wing Chun Principles And Theories

Wing Chun has been a very mis-understood martial arts system. I believe it is becoming what Bruce Lee called a classical mess.

Once something has become fixed there is little chance of growth and in many of the Wing Chun Systems today that is exactly what is happening.   There is no absolute right or wrong when it comes to expressing yourself through your martial art.  It is this writers opinion that you should use what works for you. Wing Chun is a great system of kung fu. Like all things though in order to be fluid and not rigid you have to have the ability to flow and adapt with changes.

On Chi Sao…

Some people look at Chi Sao and think that it is how Wing Chun students fight.  Real Wing Chun Fighting isn’t pretty or colorful.  The reason is because through Chi Sao training a Wing Chun practitioner gains the ability to feel their opponents intention.

A message from Bruce Lee

I believe it is safe to say that Bruce Lee has done more for martial arts in his short life than any other martial artist to date. Before he came onto the scene, nobody in America really knew what kung fu was. So at the very least he was the most influential martial artist here in the united states.  Thank goodness because before him there where some pretty bad fight scenes.

Like the Batman and Robin Fight Scenes from the 1960’s. That is why people where shocked when they seen Bruce Lee In the Green Hornet Series.

Bruce Lee Interview in 1971 – AM here

You should look upon oneself as an actor, man. I mean you would be very pleased if somebody said ‘hey man you’re a super actor’. I do not look upon myself as a star. Believe me, man, when I say it.” – Bruce Lee …
