This particular video is a little old but it had me thinking about the martial arts, television and greed. It’s clear to me that Joe Rogan never actually went toe to toe with a real kung fu martial artist.

He talks a lot of smack, but at the end of the day he is just a loud mouth promoter trying to make a buck. I am not sure what happened in the 90’s that caused so much mis information in the martial arts community. [Read more…]

A Couple Of Tricks To Get Out Of A Headlock

Do you remember when you where younger wrestling around with your friends?

One of the most common holds a person gets put in is a headlock.

Now I know there are many different ways to get out of headlock what I am about to share with you is just one method.

These methods allow you to create a massive amount of pain in isolated areas.

The reason why it’s effective is because the pain happens so fast your opponent doesn’t have time to respond to it.

Instead your opponent will react to the pain they immediately feel.

This will buy you sometime to create a counter attack or get away depending on the situation you happen to be in at the time.

Kung Fu – World Tai Chi Day

world tai chi day The crew from Enter Shaolin participated at a local World Tai Chi Day event yesterday. It’s nice to see the Tai Chi community coming together for a day to promote Tai Chi.

Like many when I first learned about Tai Chi I wasn’t very interested in it.

It seemed slow and pretty pointless. That was when I was looking at Tai Chi through the eyes of a person who didn’t understand exactly what it was.

The first 4 years of my training with Sifu Phu he kept suggesting that I start training in Tai Chi Chuan. I tried but I kept loosing interest in doing it.

Finally, after several years of training I hit a plateau in my training. It seemed like no matter what I did, I wasn’t able to stop using force in my martial art training. This really frustrated me because I was practicing all the time. Though, it was like the harder I trained the more difficult it was to soften up. [Read more…]
