Kung Fu Training – Are you Driving Energy Or Pushing Energy?

Kung Fu TrainingOften times martial art practitioners end up pushing energy rather than driving energy. The result is their attacks aren’t as powerful as they can be and sometimes they tend to over shoot their intended target.

Another problem occurs because ultimately the longer a person practices pushing energy the harder the habit is to break. I know through training with people some folks don’t realize they are pushing energy.

They will swear up and down that they are not pushing energy until I demonstrate to them the difference. Then the process of correcting the bad habit that was formed begins. [Read more…]

Tan Sao: Raising Hand

the concept of the Tan Sao is to learn to connect from the outside of the persons hand sliding down the persons arm.

Some principles:

  • Create a straight wrist A common mistake people make is they have a bent wrist. (refer to the video)
  • As long as your tan sao is in the center and you can use  your wrist to re-direct the persons force.
  • A good tan sao will help to disapate energy by raising the force upward. This will give you a leveraged position.

The goal of a tan sao is to not push the energy, rather it was designed to guide the energy around the arm. Giving you the ability to control your oppenents energy.

Greetings and saluations , today I am going to talk about Wing Chun kicking through the Ngo – Dac – Na – System. My wing chun is based on the ip man system, but my fundamental training is from the Ngo – Dac – Na – System. The Ngo – Dac – Na – System system is the study of the most efficent way of delivering energy and driving energy and returning energy back to your opponent. Today we are going to talk about front kicks , slant kicks also known as a stop kick.

Kicking is not about how much you push its about the focus of energy

A front kick is chambered to a 90% angle at least to the waste ,no higher than the solar plexus. The foot comes up from the front ball pushing so we can pop energy up rather than pushing energy up.
